What is it going to take to educate physicians, scientists and judges on the dangers of toxic mold? I have been advised behind closed doors that toxic mold caused my lung condition (potentially deadly). I live in Calif and I was exposed over a six year period while working at a major healthcare organization. The types of toxic mold found in my office, stachybotrys and aspergillus are well documented. My immune system is compromised, but so far attorneys are not willing to battle Goliath.
BTW most MDs are not trained in this. The only Drs. that know much about it are enviromental Drs. Don’t bother going to a GP or family Dr. They are not trained in it. A family MD is a jack of all trades master of none. Go there for common cold, broken finger but not anything complicated.
In Michigan the cases are backlogged. There are three Judges that refuse expert testimony on mold cases. They are in the back pocket of the insurance industry.
If you can’t see your house a good bandaid is using a Hepa Filter with Active carbon. The carbon will eat up any toxin. They are about 500.00 for a good one and about 100.00 for a small unit.
I’m using two of them to buy me some time.
Its not just an allergy, its a neurotoxin that 20% of the population is susceptible to.

If those in the legal profession really were interested in helping us they would pettition the government for serious research into this illness not sue ignorant property owners. Specifically petition the government to do a study where “sensitized” individuals and controls are expoaed to mold. If the “sensitized” can consistantly identify when theh have been exposed where controls cannot we will have proof this illness is real and can put an end to the denial.
I think until mold suffer’s come to grips with the reality that this illness isn’t as simple as “toxic mold” MD’s will continue to dismiss our claims as BS. If we came from the angle that for some reason we react while most others don’t (the truth) and we didn’t have agendas (personal injury claims) maybe they would take us seriously. We need to bring main stream medecine on board instead of trying to sue people who are totally ignorant of what mold can do to sensitized individuals.
I live in the State of New Mexico, and have a friend who is in mortal danger because of exposure to toxic mold in public housing. I wonder if you know any lawyers, and doctors, in New Mexico who are willing to help. Doctors have treated my friend for everything from allergies to a yeast infection, but refuse to admit toxic mold exists, even when presented with test results that clearly show it’s presence. She has also been unable to find a lawyer willing to take the case.
