What kind of advertising would you trust to help you find the right attorney? Beside personal reference, how do you find an attorney? I AM NOT LOOKING FOR AN ATTORNEY~I AM TRYING TO DETERMINE THE BEST WAY TO ADVERTISE FOR ONE~SO THEY DON'T LOOK CHEESY

Do good work, rely on word of mouth. There is nothing sleazier than those ads for lawyers where they're grinning, showing off their huge capped teeth, promising RESULTS.
Failing that, a tasteful ad in the yellow pages would hopefully suffice.

I hit the yellow pages and look for a specific lawyer to handle the case I am involved in. Then I interview them as if it were a job enterview.

I have some attorney friends who advertise on http://findlaw.com they're categorized and you can search by zip code. They also have a lot of great free legal advice.
