Do I need a lawyer if I was caught with a roach on state property during a search of my vehicle?

I willing medicine without prescription signed the form to let them search myself and my personal property, not knowing I had anything in my vehicle. Nothing was found on me or in my purse, but a roach was found in my car.
This is my first offense, I never been in trouble before in my life. Not even a traffic ticket.

depending on how eager they are to persue the charge. If they are, then you need to get a good one. that could result in federal time which you serve day for day
It really depends on your past history. The main thing a lawyer could do would have the charges reclassified to reduce the impact you have later.
